Tremors in residential premises - Janakpuri Block C2B
Silent continuous sink holes underway?
Over the past 6+months tremors or shock waves are felt in our residential flat balcony whenever a medium to heavy vehicle passes through the T-Junction of Lal Sain Mandir Marg and Professor Joginder Singh Marg. Over the past 3 months now tremors are felt in the bedroom also. And over the past 2 weeks shock waves or vibrations are felt in the Drawing Room and the other bedroom also. This (the actual spot at the T-Junction) is within say 35-50 metres in a straight line from our flat. We are on the 2nd floor (Ground, First, Second is heirarchy or sequence). So this is thus teesri manzil.
Balcony is cantilevered. But Bedrooms are not. And Drawing Room is also not and is further away from the building edge. Point is that tremors are invading in continuously (affecting entire house). Soon enough they will be felt in the neighbouring flat, and next, and so on. I suspect that a silent cave-in is underway or sink hole (underground cavern or underground space) is developing under our flat from quite some time and has become huge and getting bigger. You can send your Staff to spend time on here and feel the tremors, the shock waves, the vibrations.
Whatever needs to be done for our safety and safety of our house, please do. This problem does not seem to be because of metro work because I do not think a line is being constructed right below our flat (81C). Flat (DDA MIG) latitude, longitude is 28.6214, 77.0880. The operational line connecting Dabri to Janakpuri West is more than 250 metres away at its nearest (in a straight line), I reckon. So that is not the reason perhaps. But I cannot be 100% sure. I do not know if underground cables or pipes are being laid right under our flat/s and you are utilising trenchless or No-Dig technology, meaning I do not know if underground tunnelling and excavation work is taking place under our house. Else it is a cave-in or sink hole under our house and elsewhere in C2B Janakpuri of NCT Delhi where soil is getting loose and being carried away gently and underground sink holes are happening. Whatever it may be, please take this seriously. Do what needs to be done. Activate the Departments. Actually minor caveins (soil subsidence) have already happened in the Block (like just near to Flats 82-83) but they have been so minor that nobody took cognizance that something bigger was underway. Those little cave-ins or soil subsidence areas were filled up. This has happened more than once at that same place. I had understood that something bigger is underway. When you come over I will tell you more. So I repeat that you send over your qualified, well meaning staff personnel who are technical, sensible, non-corrupt, with decent level of education and background, spend time on here, in balcony, inside room/s for your own verification.
The T-Junction ‘spot’ (on the road) which triggers considerable vibrations (in our house) when vehicles move over it seems to be on Lal Sain Mandir Marg road near to the divider on the other side of carriageway (other side with reference to Block C2B) and just after the actual T-Junction (‘after’ means it is presumed that you are headed towards JSSH Janakpuri Super Speciality Hospital direction from A5B-A5C direction). Lat Long of this spot is 28.6218, 77.0879. See image accompanying this Post. In fact small portion of road just outside Gate No. 2 of Block C2B is dug up. Surprisingly (& shockingly) tremors are felt via this spot (dug up portion) too (whenever large vehicle passes over). So these two spots are different but in each other vicinity.
Actually stretch of Prof Joginder Singh Marg just after above mentioned T-Junction (starting from T-Junction and going up some distance till District Centre, say 45 metres) also is circumspect. Also circumspect is portion of road around the Delhi Jal Board DJB Daftar of C2B Janakpuri. You see many times shock waves are accompanied by ‘dhammm’ or ‘dhrummm’ or ‘dhaghadhamm’ sound from afar. It is as if a passenger bus (DTC or other) or truck has gone over a depression. And many times a continuous shock wave happens accompanied by ‘ghrummm-mmm’ sound. So apart from that one spot as depicted in the image other places on the road/s are also causing trouble. Please understand. It is serious. Walls shake, ground shakes, furniture shakes. When you send your people I will tell how I am i). sure about the spot in image and ii). a little sceptical or circumspect about other place/s (as to where exactly they are), but these places ‘are’ there ‘in addition’.
So do rectification etc. Whatever needs to be done for our safety and safety of our house, please do. Do what needs to be done. Situation is dangerous. It is almost like a 2.5-3.5 Richter Scale Earthquake every every 2-3 minutes and in addition at times they are one after another in succession for several seconds during day time. I am not exaggerating. Take this very seriously please. Even during nights tremors are felt. It can suddenly be very fatal. It is an impending building collapse scenario. Any structure weakens continuously due to tremors happening continuously. You know that, don’t you? Every single tremor (big, small) results in any structure weakening to varying extents.
So to start off with 2 kinds of investigations are needed asap - i). checking for soil subsidence or cave-in or sink hole/s under our flat 81 (of C2B Janakpuri) and ii). finding out exact reason for vibrations reaching our house from the road and causing tremors. And then fixing the anomalies should be done. .. Rocks were disturbed by Public Works? .. Simply levelling of the roads around will not suffice. You have to carry out proper technical, scientific study/ies, like expected from a really competent State/Country and its Agencies, Instruments, Departments, and then going about proper fixing by qualified, technical, trained agencies, institutes, vendors, firms etc.

What if structural cracks appear all of a sudden because of this problem? What if the structure collapses suddenly? This is not trabeated (column - beam construction) btw. It is load bearing brick wall - beam work. These are DDA Flats constructed early 1970s. From 78 to 81 are 12 flats. It may be that soon enough vibrations reach all 12. But do not wait because by that time lot of avoidable, preventable damage would have been caused to life, also to property - both private, public. And C2B Block has 345 flats btw. Vibrations will affect more than these 12 flats. Damage will only spread.
